Each one of us is an expert in our own lives.

As a therapist, I am warm, genuine, and non-judgmental. I want you to feel safe to share your worries with me. I believe each one of us is an expert in our own lives.   I will work with you to find the best approach for you and your situation.

I have worked professionally with adults, children, and families for the last 27 years in Mental Health, Crisis Counselling, Child Welfare, and Education. I am experienced in supporting children with behavioural challenges, exceptionalities, and trauma. I have worked with families/caregivers to help understand their child’s challenges and manage their wellness as care providers. My strength is positive engagement to find the hidden potential and resilience that occupies each individual and relationship.

I have completed a Master’s in Education, Counselling Psychology (2017), Post Baccalaureate in Special Education (2008), a Bachelor of Education (2003), a Bachelor of Social Work (1996) and a Bachelor of Arts (Advanced, 1993).

I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Psychotherapy Association (Member Number: 10004535). I am a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers (Certification Number: 4690).

I have continued to upgrade my skills and have pursued advanced training. This includes EMDR Basic Training and Advanced courses. I am in the final stages of completing the EMDIRA Certification. I have taken training in Play Therapy and Theraplay and have begun the certification process for both. I also have trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychol therapy (DDP). I am a trained facilitator for Circle of Security, a parenting program. I have had training in Family Systems theory. I am a lifelong learner... well, actually, I may be addicted to learning and am serious about deepening my knowledge in the area of trauma. I have also had the privilege of teaching at the University level, where I have taught as a sessional Instructor at the University of Manitoba, courses in Counselling Skills, Ethics of Counselling and Trauma Informed Practice.

In my personal life, you can find me in my garden or hiking down a trail with my Jack Russel terrier named Jack (original, right?). I love to camp and back-country canoe in the summers and downhill ski in the winters with my husband of 17 years. We have enjoyed many a road trip with our camper and kids in tow. We are parents to twins who teach and challenge us in the best possible ways. I am a voracious reader and Audible listener. When not reading books on therapy, I love to read murder mysteries.
